Our approach is different from traditional healthcare.

We don’t refer you to your family doctor for labs we manage, as they are not permitted to run many of the tests we use in our approach, because they don't look at the body the same way and they have a fiscal responsibility to uphold with government funds, which restricts them further.

You are welcome to upload recent blood lab results for your naturopathic doctor to review, and then do the remaining tests with us. We can provide private pay blood lab testing to guide your assessments.

We also provide functional lab testing (urine, breath, stool, saliva, blood) for chronic illness cases, hormone therapy and digestion, mental health and migraine cases. We do not offer IV-therapy at our clinic.

Here's what to expect, Step by Step

Select a time in our calendar, login to our system, watch our welcome video, fill out a brief questionnaire and speak with us about your goals before getting started.

Begin by filling out the intake, consent and health history questionnaires, prior to your Getting Started review date booked in the calendar. This is not a consult but a time your ND will be reviewing your questionnaires and giving you written feedback for direction, before your 1st video consult, to make the most of your time together. Filling out in-depth questionnaires throughout your journey with us, helps us make the most of our time together and helps us guide you in-between consults.

Over the course of your first 2-3 consults, typically spaced out every 4-6 weeks, you'll meet with your doctor for a video call to inform the assessment, collect testing needed (blood, urine, stool, saliva, breath), send referral letters if needed (imaging, request to your primary care provider or specialist, other therapists), implement and refine the treatment plan.

We use nutrition, supplements, medication, mindset shifts, movement, homeopathy and at-home remedies, to create a synergistic effect, over a period of time, to see symptoms change. We aim to meet with you 4-5 times in your first year and 3-4 times in your second year of care, to set you up for a health transformation that can reach your goals and help you maintain them. Each consult has the goal of hearing how you're doing making adjustments to your habits, what is impact of the treatment on your symptoms and goals, and providing strategy, insight, and refinement to the treatment plan, to encourage you in your efforts.

Creating new habits and mindset patterns, through learning both cognitively and experientially, is how a health transformation occurs. In consults we'll meet with you to provide clarification and understanding of what is happening in your body and with the treatment tools. At these sessions we'll also evaluate how your efforts have changed your symptom picture, and decide together when and what to tweak, change or adjust to the treatment plan, to help you get better. We'll help you understand metrics to aim for, to be in good-health and how to use the tools for maintenance once you feel better. We will then offer you the option to join our group health education membership, to continue with a way to support your health in multiple ways, outside of a 1:1 consult.

Who We Are

I’m a naturopathic doctor with a focus on digestive and hormone health.
I keep my training up annually, by different experts in various fields in medicine and through my registered naturopathic license requirements. I want to bring this expertise to you.

I see the struggle (and went through it personally) in women in my practice daily, who feel disappointed, lost, and alone trying to navigate their body changes.

There is a path forward - and it includes education.

I’ve helped hundreds of patients become symptom free and thrive in their lives because they have their health.

I’ve been supporting people learn how their body works and improve their health since 2012, and am honoured to do so. My goal is that you can learn, look and feel your best.

I look forward to working with you,

Dr. Kaylee Alton, ND

FAQs

Answers to some commonly asked questions

You'll be asked to upload any lab records or imaging reports, from the last 1-2 years, as PDFs to your portal, before your 1st consult. They will be reviewed between your 1st-2nd consult, and can offset additional labs if applicable. Typically, blood labs done by family physicians are not from the same approach as your naturopathic doctor, and a comprehensive panel is still recommended. Recall, we don't ask you to go to your family doctor to get testing done that your naturopathic doctor recommends and can provide for you with their license. Your naturopathic doctor can write a letter to your family doctor with an outline of their assessment and recommendation and you can book a consult with your family doctor to review the letter from your naturopathic doctor, to see what they think and what they would agree to. This way you are setting up a inter-professional working relationship for your care team.

We don't offer in-person IV-therapy, glutathione pushes, vitamin D or PRP injections. We do however, provide patients with prescriptions for at-home b12/folate injections and will walk you through instructions on how to do to this type of care, if applicable.

Dr. Alton can prescribe dessicated thyroid hormone, vaginal or topical progesterone hormone, oral or topical estrogen hormone and prescription dose vitamin D. She works with a nurse practitioner (additional cost) for her patients to get access to oral progesterone, peptide-injections, topical testosterone therapy, synthetic thyroid hormone, low-dose naltrexone, and prescriptions for antibiotics, antifungals, antiparasitics, or antiviral therapy, when needed. Prescriptions are typically given for 90-days, and doses can vary from 1x/day - 1x/week, depending on the need/ medication.

No services, consults, lab testing, prescriptions or procedures, given by your naturopathic doctor or the consults with our private nurse practitioner, are covered by government healthcare (OHIP, RAMQ). Health benefits or extended health insurance plans, will provide some reimbursement for the costs of consults, and rarely lab testing, under the naturopathic medicine benefit. The drug-plan from your extended health insurance plan, will prescriptions given that have a D.I.N. (drug-identification number), but not compounded medications or lab testing paid for out of pocket.

We do not provide our patients with Direct Billing. We keep a credit card on file, that is tokenized, and use that for automatic payment of services received. You can then download your invoice as a PDF, from your portal, and submit that to your insurance plan, if applicable. Or you can submit it to your accountant at the end of year, for a medical claim.

Yes. Half our patient population comes to work with us after already seeing many physicians in the conventional healthcare system, and so are already on medication. We will customize your treatment plan to make sure there are no interactions with your current medication, and ask that you update your profile, whenever you go on or off medication, from another provider. If we prescribe you a medication, we will also write a letter to update your primary care provider.

Naturopathic doctors have a minimum of 3 years of university education followed by 4 years at an accredited Naturopathic college.

In Naturopathic Medical College, Naturopathic Doctors study advanced medical and clinical sciences, health diagnostics such as laboratory testing, clinical diagnosis, differential diagnosis, naturopathic assessment, natural therapies (including nutrition, supplements, botanical therapies, lifestyle counselling and acupuncture), and complete a 1-year clinical internship to gain clinical experience.

Naturopathy and homeopathy are medical disciplines that have existed for hundreds of years. Many people use the terms naturopathy and homeopathy interchangeably. However, they are two distinct disciplines of medicine, with different natural treatment plans and philosophies. The goal of naturopathy is to treat the whole person, and also focuses on preventative medicine. Naturopathy can effectively treat a variety of health conditions, with a variety of tools.

Homeopathy's philosophy is to treat “like” with “like.” This means that whatever is causing your illness can also be used to cure it. Therefore, the homeopathic remedy corresponds to the symptoms. Homeopathic doctors use exclusively one tool, homeopathic remedies, as treatment. It also treats a wide variety of health concerns.

In our clinic, we use homeopathic remedies for pediatric cases and for drainage or detoxification support for complex cases, before a patient can begin biomedical treatment tools like supplements and medications.

Typically patients need 4-5 visits in their first year, and 3-4 visits in their second year, to overcome heir health concerns and build a foundation to prevent future reoccurrence. Often patients will see their naturopathic doctor for more frequent visits in the first two years, and then move to one consult every 6 months for maintenance, when on a prescription OR maintain touch-points annually, as a member of our Confident Hormone Club.

We take you from being confused, to confident in your health.
